Sparky the Fire Dog depicts the National Fire Protection Association official mascot and is dedicated to the memory of Chief Philip Clover. The statue, by sculptor Denise Rinkovsky, features a clover on the back of Sparky’s leg and adorns a chief’s badge to symbolize Chief Clover. The girl featured in the statue is modeled after one of Clover’s granddaughters. The statue was purposely pointed towards the original site of Station 1. Chief Clover’s children were in attendance during the dedication ceremony on March 14, 2014. Clover’s daughter expressed her gratitude for the firefighters in attendance and thanked all the donors that made the statue possible.
