Kemph Heating & Air, 518 N Grand

One of the most iconic photographs of all time has been captured in a colorful mural on N Grand St just as you enter downtown Enid from the north.

Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima is a black & white photo taken by Joe Rosenthal of the Associated Press as six U.S. Marines raised the flag atop Mt. Suribachi in the final stages of the Pacific War in February, 1945. Enid artist Tox Murillo recreated the famous photo in vibrant color at Kemph Heating and AC at 518 N Grand.

Once the mural was completed in August 2021, the owners of Kemph Heating and AC mounted brackets at just the correct angle and placed an American flag atop the mural, completing the look of the original Rosenthal photograph.
