A Fling at the Springs was created by Sylvan Reynolds 21 years ago as a fundraiser for the Government Springs Park. Over the years it was produced by Reynolds and a handful of volunteers and recently became a non-profit organization whose focus is supporting and encouraging live music and the arts. The organization is governed by a small board consisting of Tammy Wilson, Michael Dotson, Shawn Mahaffey, Travis Layton, and Larry Lewis. The festival is funded through sponsorships and donations from the community.

A Fling at the Springs has hosted some of Oklahoma’s up and coming musicians as well as some of the state’s most prolific musicians and songwriters, including Bob Childers and Tom Skinner, both considered to be godfathers of the Oklahoma Red Dirt music scene. Several of the younger participants that grew up preforming at the Fling are now touring musicians.

As part of their mission, they have created the David McCoy Memorial Scholarship that will be awarded to a local music student. McCoy was a lifelong Enid musician, sound technician, and friend to Enid’s music community. This is the second year the scholarship will be awarded.
