Automobiles from across Oklahoma and surrounding states will be on display when Enid Antique Auto Club hosts its annual car show to benefit Cimarron Council Boy Scouts of America.

The event will be at Chisholm Trail Expo Center on the Garfield County fairgrounds. There is no admission.

Among the vehicles on display will be a 1916 Monroe and the world’s only surviving Geronimo automobile.

Geronimo cars were built in Enid for three years, 1917-1920. After the Geronimo plant burned down in 1920, many of the remaining cars were scrapped for metal to help with the war effort. The one on display has been painstakingly restored. Thousands of hours have gone into ensuring the vehicle properly represents the original 1918 assembly line product. Three people will have the opportunity to take a ride in the Geronimo.

“We are excited about sharing our cars with the public,” said Bud Smith, of Enid Antique Auto Club. “Our members and friends are passionate about keeping the history of the automobile alive for others to enjoy.”

In addition to the Geronimo, there will be more than 100 other cars on display, representing each era of the automobile industry. Trophies will be awarded in several categories: stock (original) cars and trucks, customized cars, trucks, rat rods and hot rods. Each of the categories will be broken into pre-war, 1941-54, 1955-63, 1964-72 and 1973-newer.

Scout Troops will be operating a concession stand. In addition to doughnuts and coffee, Scouts will offer an assortment of lunch items, including dutch-oven cobbler. All proceeds benefit Cimarron Council, Boy Scouts of America.

Doors open to the public at 10:30 a.m., with judging from 11 to noon. Prizes will be awarded at 2:30 p.m.
